According to swim team head coach Jeff DeHaan, for the third straight year Hooley individually qualified to compete in the state championships.
“This years’ qualification was in his best event, the 100 breaststroke. He did this by becoming the first General to break the one minute barrier and in doing so he broke his own school record which he set last year,” said DeHaan.
“Chase also became part of Ohio State meet history as part of the fastest breaststroke field ever assembled,” said DeHaan, adding, “for the first time ever all 24 qualifiers were under a minute.”
Hooley’s career stats include being named as a 16 time District qualifier, seven time State qualifier, four time All-Ohioan and two time All-American Consideration. He also holds school records in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays and the 100 breaststroke.
Hooley will continue his swimming career next year on scholarship at Malone University.
