Make do ice skates

At a recent auction, I bought a primitive set of ice skates made from the top of a man’s work boots and carved wooden bottoms. The auctioneer said one of a kind, and we all believed him, as the bidding rose to $60. I might keep these in my collection.

Recent auction prices: peanut jar, $40; music box, $50; small windmill, $37.50; dove-tailed baby cradle, $85; wood grain scoop, $45; postcard album, $40; six-pane corner hutch, $600; Indian blanket, $15; curved-front Curio cabinet, $400; Ohio star punch bowl and base, $460; Champion tractor seat, $50; set of snow shoes, $60; unusual outside phone booth, $140; Waterbury shelf clock, $80; Hamilton and Jones crock with small crack, $135; seven-piece berry set, $55, Stanley tool chest, $125; three tine wood pitch fork, $100.

Happy Hunting,

Brooks
