Celebrate Earth Day with Local Roots

The Scarlet, Gray, and Green Fair is coming up next week on Tuesday, April 19, from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., at the Fisher Auditorium at OARDC. Once again, Local Roots Market will be there supporting the efforts of all those who are making a positive impact on our world in local ways.

Come to the Local Roots table to find out more about what’s going on at the market these days, or enjoy one of the local food demonstrations using products from Local Roots producers. Don’t forget to say hello to our friends at the Wayne County Sustainable Energy Network. And don’t forget to bring your recycling.

On Thursday, April 21, from 6-8 p.m., you’ll find a basic bookmaking class at Local Roots, with ideas for reusing a few common household items and turning them into handmade journals or notebooks. Bring a washed yogurt cup or paper coffee cup for glue; all other materials will be provided. Cost is $10 for Local Roots members, $15 for non-members. Class is limited to 12, so please pre-register by Saturday, April 16.

As a year-round market for locally-produced foods and other agricultural products, Local Roots Market is located at 140 S. Walnut St. in Wooster. The market is open Wednesdays through Fridays, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturdays, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Membership is not required to shop. To learn more about weekly news and events at the market, visit the website at http://www.localrootswooster.com and sign up for the newsletter.
