The Hot Club of Detroit - a quintet of two guitars, saxophone, bass, and accordion - produces an eclectic sound and offers a well-rounded repertoire. Hot Club was founded in 2003 by students at Wayne State University in Detroit. The ensemble rapidly accumulated accolades and audiences over the next several years, including a first-place win in the 2004 Detroit International Jazz Festival competition and multiple Detroit Music Awards. Performing are Julien Labro, accordion; Evan Perri, guitar; Paul Brady, guitar; Andrew Kartzat, bass; Andrew Bishop, saxophones.
They will be joined by 27-year-old French singer Cyrille Aimée, who has performed throughout Europe and the U.S. to rave reviews. The Washington Post said, “(She has a voice) like fine whiskey - oaky and smooth.” The New York Times said, “Her singing is playful - full of feeling, space, and light.” La Republique said, “A sublime voice spontaneously built in the heart of the gypsy world.”
The concert is free and open to the public; no tickets are required.
