Joint Commission certification is a rigorous process requiring a facility to meet numerous criteria. Achieving certification holds Wooster Community Hospital to a higher standard of care and demonstrates a commitment to excellence in providing joint replacement care.
“In achieving Joint Commission certification, Wooster Community Hospital has demonstrated its commitment to the highest level of care for its patients needing knee or hip replacement,” said Jean Range, M.S., R.N., C.P.H.Q. executive director, Disease-Specific Care Certification, The Joint Commission. “Certification is a voluntary process and I commend Wooster Community Hospital for successfully undertaking this challenge to elevate its standard of care and instill confidence in the community it serves.”
“With Joint Commission certification, we are making a significant investment in quality on a day-to-day basis from the top down. Joint Commission accreditation provides us a framework to take our organization to the next level and helps create a culture of excellence,” said Bill Sheron, Wooster Community Hospital CEO. “Achieving Joint Commission certification in knee and hip replacement is a major step toward maintaining excellence and continually improving the care we provide.”
Wooster Community Hospital’s Joint Center is a collaborative effort between the hospital and the physicians of Wooster Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine. Once the physicians have identified patients who need a knee or hip replacement, those patients participate in an educational dinner before they have surgery. Patients begin their rehabilitation almost immediately following their surgery and continue after a brief stay in the hospital.
Wooster Community Hospital is the only facility with knee and hip replacement certification from The Joint Commission within a 50-mile radius.
