The Performing Arts Center at Wooster High School was filled to capacity when the Wooster City School District presented its annual All-City Orchestra concert May 5.

The annual concert, which featured the talents of fifth through 12th-grade string students in one single concert, showcased the musical development the students undergo as part of the district’s string program.

Included in the program were performances by the 63 fifth and sixth-grade students from the elementary schools’ string program, who presented three pieces, including Beethoven’s Ninth.

Next to take the stage were seventh and eighth-grade string ensembles from Edgewood Middle School, who concluded their performance with a rendition of Hans Zimmer’s Pirates of the Caribbean.

The finale of the 90-minute concert featured the Wooster High School Orchestra, which presented a wide variety of selections, ranging from a classical piece by Bizet to Henry Mancini’s iconic Moon River, and the Simon and Garfunkel classic Bridge Over Troubled Water.

Loretta Adkins conducted the elementary and middle school strings. The 52-piece Wooster High School Orchestra performed under the direction of Dan Adams.
