Children make a difference in their community

submitted photo

St. Mary School recently made a difference in the community. The sixth-grade students held a fundraiser and donated the proceeds to Hospice & Palliative Care of Greater Wayne County.

St. Mary School’s philosophy emphasizes knowledge, faith and character. The children are taught the importance of caring, charity and community involvement. The success of the school philosophy is demonstrated by efforts like this one, as the students came up with this idea on their own, developed it and saw it to completion.

All told, this year alone, St. Mary School students have raised more than $1,500 for local and regional charities, including Hospice, Red Cross (Japan earthquake relief), Catholic Charities USA and Akron Children’s Hospital to name a few.
