Larry Tschiegg
Larry Wayne Tschiegg, 67, of Orrville, died June 5, 2011, at his home, surrounded by family and friends. He had battled cancer for 11 years.
Larry was born April 1, 1944, in Wooster, to the late Albert and Bessie Tschiegg. He graduated from Dalton High School in 1963, Ohio State Barber College in 1964, and Ohio State Cosmetology School in 1967. Larry lived and worked in Columbus for many years and made lifetime friends. He returned to Wayne County in the 1980s. In 1990, he opened Larry’s Family Hair Center in Smithville. His customers were like a second family.
Larry loved being with his family and friends. He often had a pig roast for family, neighbors, and customers. He shared his home as a retreat for friends that needed a get-away and a place to stay for a while. Often his Columbus friends would bring their families for a weekend campout. His hobby was restoring his home, built around 1850, which he purchased in 1987.
Larry will be greatly missed by a sister, Jane Orr of Apple Creek; brothers, Don (Ruth) Tschiegg and Roger (Cathy) Tschiegg, both of Orrville; brother-in-law, Dean Bricker of Wooster; sisters-in-law, Betty Tschiegg of Wooster and Mary Tschiegg of Orrville; and 17 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Vernon and Robert “Bob” Tschiegg; sister, Verena Bricker; and brother-in-law, Alonzo Orr. A sister, Julia, passed away at the age of 1 year.
Services were held June 8, at Orrville Christian Church, with his brother, Roger Tschiegg, officiating. Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery, Orrville.
