The North American reunion of the Schmucker-Smoker-Smucker family will be held July 8 to 10, at Central Christian School, 3970 Kidron Rd., Kidron. This event is held every five years to commemorate the emigration of Christian Schmucker, who arrived in America on Sept. 24, 1752. The last time the reunion was held in Wayne County was in 1981.

The reunion opens Friday with attendees having the opportunity to participate in a day long bus tour of historic sites. The day will conclude with an evening meal, SSS family business meeting, and an auction. Saturday will feature various presentations and workshops applicable to the family. Highlighting the day will be a barbecue and concert featuring Rhonda Vincent and the Rage hosted by the J.M. Smucker Company. The reunion will conclude with a non-denominational intergenerational church service on Sunday. Children’s activities are available on Saturday.
