Dean Simeral

Dean W. Simeral, 86, of Wooster, died June 15, 2011, at his home.

Dean was born July 25, 1924, in Jefferson County, the son of the late James Blaine and Clara Carmen Simeral. He married Ruth V. Mallernee on June 14, 1947. She died in 2003.

Dean retired as vice president of public affairs from the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation in 1989 after 40 years of employment. He served his country with the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1943-46 and was a former resident of Reynoldsburg and Leesburg, Fla.

Surviving are his children, Scott H. of New York City and Gary (Betty) of Hiram; son-in-law, Tim Mendiola of Wooster; grandchildren, Robert Simeral of Hiram and Anthony and Christine Mendiola of Wooster; and a very special friend and companion, Laura Marie McConahay of Wooster.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Mendiola; brother, Robert; and sister, Pauline Randolph.

Memorial services will be held June 23, at 7 p.m., at Wayne Presbyterian Church, 7152 Burbank Rd., Wooster, with Rev. Robert Meyer officiating. A pre-service fellowship will take place at 5:30 p.m.
