Wooster juvenile arrested after threatening store owner with knife

A juvenile who threatened a Wooster store owner Wednesday, June 29, after being caught trying to steal a candy bar is in custody of juvenile detention authorities.

The 17-year-old male is being held at the juvenile detention center on charges of aggravated menacing, robbery, carrying a concealed weapon and theft after brandishing a large folding knife while fleeing from the store owner.

According to Wooster Police reports, the juvenile entered a West Liberty Street convenience store at 1:18 p.m. and stole a candy bar. The store owner saw the candy bar in the juvenile’s pocket and attempted to detain him. The owner gave chase as the juvenile fled.

Wooster police arrived shortly after the confrontation and arrested the juvenile.

The value of the candy bar is 50 cents, according to the store owner. The store owner was injured after falling while pursuing the juvenile, according to police reports.
