Mabel was born Jan. 28, 1924, in Holmes County, to the late Robert and Katherine Korns. She had worked at Fisher Body, Cleveland, during WWII, had been the Holmesville correspondent for the Wooster Daily Record for several years, and was clerk for 17 years at the Holmesville Post Office.
She was a member of Holmesville United Methodist Church, where she was a choir member and served the church in various ways for several years. She was also a member of the Holmesville American Legion Post 551 Auxiliary and a charter member of the Stepping Stones Mother’s Club.
Mabel enjoyed playing cards and was an avid Ohio State and Cleveland sports fan. She also loved watching Waynedale High School sporting events. She attended many of her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events over the years and loved family get-togethers.
Surviving are children, Janice (Larry) Goldberg of St. Charles, Ill., Randy (Cathy) Kiser of Wooster, Kirby (Sandi) Kiser of Apple Creek, and Joni (Kent) Hofacre of Worthington; 10 grandchildren, Barrie (Ryan) Alpert and Alex Goldberg, Kristi Walti and Nikki (Mike) Leavitt, Landre (P.J.) McCloud, Bryce (Berda) Kiser and Hannah Kiser, and Matt, Kyle and Emily Hofacre; eight great-grandchildren, Maggie, Brodie, and Tate Alpert, Ryan and Drew Walti, Chloe and Colton Leavitt, and Jillian McCloud; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Junie” Kiser Jr., whom she married April 12, 1945; sisters, Betty Burkey and Harriet Paxton; and brother, Robert Korns.
The family would like to thank the staff at Greenfield for their loving care over the past year an a half and also Sycamore Run and Wayne County Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Mabel for her short stay there.
Services will be held July 11, at 11 a.m., at Holmesville United Methodist Church, with Pastor Kenn Curren officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Township Cemetery, Holmesville. Friends may call July 10, from 5-8 p.m., at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg.
