Rex and Diane Miller hosted the annual picnic of the Smithville Community Historical Society on Monday, August 1. Rex Miller showed and told about the antique agricultural tools and equipment that he has collected over the years. It was an interesting display of hay knives, tractor seats, corn shellers, grass seeders, etc.

Acquisitions co-chair Linda Platt reported a gift of dolls from Pat Chambers and members of the Doll Club. The dolls are part of the display in the caboose. Joe Irvin gave a Myrtle Dairy milk bottle to the society.

The next open house will be Sunday, August 21. No meeting will be held in September, as the regular meeting date would be on Labor Day.

The next meeting will be Oct. 3. Marilyn Ferguson, a reenactor, will present Meet the Ohio President’s Wives.
