Eli was born Nov. 22, 1934, in Arthur, Ill., to the late Albert and Saloma Stutzman. In 1953, Eli’s family moved to Shreve. In 1960, he started his own business, Auto Repair Shop and Tow Trucks, and later he and his son developed E.J. Stutzman, Inc., a trucking company. He served many people well with his services. Eli was a member of Berlin Mennonite Church.
Surviving are his wife, Verna Stutzman, whom he married April 19, 1957; children, Jeff (Tam) Stutzman of Sugarcreek and Jennifer (Tim) Yoder of Ragersville; grandchildren, Lindsey, Cooper, Mitchel (Sarah), Jared, and Collin; siblings, Ervin (Welma) Stutzman of Orrville, Morris (Diana) Stutzman, Elsie (Neel) Summers, and Susie Stutzman, all of Wooster, Verna (Lowell) Bender of Maryland, and Judy Stutzman of California; and three nieces and six nephews.
Celebration of life services were held Sept. 3, at Berlin Mennonite Church, with Revs. Herman Myers and Bruce Hamsher officiating. Private family burial was in Berlin Cemetery.
