Wayne County Sustainable Energy Network to hold lighting seminar

The Wayne County Sustainable Energy Network, in conjunction with FirstMove Energy Consultants, will be hosting an informational seminar regarding new federal lighting standards on Tuesday, Oct. 4.

One of the new mandates includes improving efficiency standards that will render today’s T12 fluorescent lights obsolete in the United States beginning next summer. Historically the most common tubular fluorescent lamps utilized in commercial environments, this legislation will affect a wide range of Wayne County businesses.

The seminar - led by Tate Emerson, president of FirstMove Energy Consultants - will address specifics of the new lighting legislation, time lines, and incentives available for replacing outdated lighting.

“Utility companies are literally giving you money to upgrade your lights right now,” said Emerson. “You can either take advantage of their incentives or pay for it on your own later.”

The seminar, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Prentke Romich Company in Wooster. Registration is not required.
