Jaunita was born Feb. 23, 1930, in Clark, to the late Russell and Maude Patterson. She worked 38 years for the Rice-Chadwick Rubber Co., Killbuck, retiring in 1990. She was an active member of Clark Community Church and helped start the after school youth program with Eldon Trubee. She was co-founder of Project Linus in Holmes County and enjoyed gardening and quilting, making hundreds of blankets.
Surviving are children, Kathy (Sam) Strausbaugh of Millersburg, Karen (Jack) Carpenter of Killbuck, and Kraig (Tami) Bucklew of Millersburg; four grandchildren, Jeff Strausbaugh, Scott (Jeannie) Cutlip, Brock Bucklew, and Kaci Bucklew; a great-granddaughter, Sabryn Cutlip; three stepgrandchildren, Tina (Travis) White, Brad (Mary) Carpenter, and Michelle Carpenter; five stepgreat-grandchildren, Travis and Trevor Raber and Brandon, Sarah, and Ryan Carpenter; brothers, Bill (Carol) Patterson of Wooster, Pete (Maxine) Patterson of Delaware, Cal (Bert) Patterson of Gulf Shores, Ala., John (Darlene) Patterson of Canal Lewisville, Sam (Karen) Patterson of Coshocton, Gail (Faye) Patterson of Killbuck, and Jerry (Karen) Patterson of Millersburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dexter O. Bucklew, whom she married June 15, 1949; brothers, Bernard, Al, Robert, and Charles Patterson; sisters, Mid Casey and Faye Wagers; and a stepgreat-grandson, Tristan White.
Private graveside services were held in Killbuck Cemetery. Memorial services were held Oct. 14, at Clark Community Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Burnetta Armour officiating.
