Helen was born Dec. 12, 1924, near Wooster, to the late Joseph and Sarah Richard, and married Chester L. Steiner on June 1, 1950. He survives. She was a member of Kidron Mennonite Church and was a homemaker. She enjoyed her flower beds, gardening, crocheting, quilting, and helping her husband with the family farm.
In addition to her husband, Helen is survived by children, Roger (Nedra) Steiner of Kidron, James (Deb) Steiner of Venice, Fla., R. Dean (Prudy) Steiner of Kidron, Elaine (Steve) Lehman of Dalton, Lois (Bob) Nussbaum of Mt. Eaton, and Linda (David “Bo”) Sleutz of Kidron; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Anna (John) Gehman and Ruth (Wilfred) Steiner, both of Kidron, Mary (Marvin) Hilty of Columbus, and Martha Steiner of Wooster; and brothers, Elmer Richard of Creston, and Junior (Naomi) Richard and Paul (Joanne) Richard, both of Wooster.
She was preceded in death by a great-grandson.
Services were held Oct. 25, at Kidron Mennonite Church, with Pastors Thomas Dunn, Lydell Steiner, and Herman Myers officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Spidell Funeral Home, Mt. Eaton, handled arrangements.
