Senior citizens are invited to attend Something for Seniors on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at The Pier near Mt. Eaton. Seniors are invited to come anytime between 9-10 a.m. to enjoy conversation. Coffee and tea will also be available. This is also a time to make new friends and connect with old friends. The planned program begins at 10 a.m. with Picks and Hammers performing.

Picks and Hammers have been performing together since 1994. The group features the hammered dulcimer, but also incorporates the guitar, mandolin, fiddle, and upright bass as well as other folk instruments such as the penny whistle, harmonica, mountain dulcimer, autoharp, and bowed psaltery.

Members of the group include Bob Roger, Errol Miller, Barb Mast, and Eric Mast. They are retired from a variety of occupations which include operating a dental lab, serving in the public schools as a speech and language pathologist, and teaching junior high and high school science courses.

Picks and Hammers plays an eclectic blend of folk music including Appalachian and Celtic folk with the occasional addition of western swing, bluegrass, and even some Tin Pan Alley tunes.

Following the program, lunch will be provided by Mountain Top Restaurant.

The next Something for Seniors program is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 31. For more information, call The Pier at 330-359-2071.

The Pier is located at 10470 Winesburg Rd., approximately one and a half miles south of Mt. Eaton or four miles north of Winesburg, and it is handicap accessible. All senior citizens are invited to come and enjoy this event.
