Mt. Eaton Moonlight Madness offers perfect time to shop for sales

Typically at this time of year, the sun sets around 5 p.m. each day. And when the moon comes out, so will the sales, as Mt. Eaton hosts their fourth annual Moonlight Madness event, Dec. 1, from 3-8 p.m.

Visitors to Mt. Eaton can reap the rewards of after-Thanksgiving shopping, as local businesses offer special sales for anyone looking to get started, or even finish up, their holiday shopping.

John Miller, of Mt. Eaton Hardware, said of the event, “This is our fourth year. It’s getting better every year. We usually have it the first Thursday after Thanksgiving and it seems to be working out pretty good.”

A special raffle will be held once again this year, where shoppers can enter for their chance to win one of $500 total in Mt. Eaton Bucks. “All the businesses here in town run a special on their own, but we all went together and we’re doing a drawing,” explained Miller. Two $25, two $50, two $75, and two $100 gift certificates will be given away, and can be used at any of the Mt. Eaton businesses.

With that being said, Miller was quick to note, “It’s just a one-day thing,” so shoppers will want to make sure they stop by any of the shops for not only the sales, but the chance at some of the free money.

Business involved in the Mt. Eaton Moonlight Madness sale include S&M Bike Shop, Village Sewing Machine, Spector-Levine, Mt. Eaton Hardware, Mt. Eaton Greenhouse, Mt. Eaton Harness & Shoe and D&R Engine Repair. Other businesses include Hilltop Market, the village’s grocery store. Each will offer an individual sale. For example, Miller said Mt. Eaton Hardware will offer 10 percent off store-wide, with special sales on power tools and other items throughout the store.

Although the Mt. Eaton Moonlight Madness sale offers great discounts on quality products, the real purpose of the night is to promote local businesses and keep everyone’s hard earned wages inside the place in which they live.

“It’s good to give our local people a chance to spend their money local, and we try to keep everything local here, instead of spending money in other towns, where we don’t get the advantages,” said Miller.

So stop by Mt. Eaton on Dec. 1 for Moonlight Madness, the once-a-year opportunity to enjoy everything Mt. Eaton has to offer at a discounted price. It’s the perfect time to Christmas shop, so why not do it in Mt. Eaton?
