Warrant out for Wooster man in Dec. 10 shooting

Lashaun Reed

Police are seeking a Wooster man with a history of violence in a Dec. 10 fatal shooting.

Wooster Police Chief Matt Fisher said Thursday that a warrant on murder charges has been issued for Lashaun M. Reed, 23, of 716 Quinby Avenue, Apt. D. Reed is being sought in the death of 21-year-old Clifford Johnson, of Wooster, who was killed in a Dec. 10 shooting incident.

Reed is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on Reed’s whereabouts are encouraged to contact police immediately.

Reed has a history of assault convictions, including assaults on police officers. At the time of the shooting, Reed was out on bond after pleading guilty Nov. 9 to charges of felonious assault and assault in Wayne County Common Pleas Court. The charges stem from a stabbing incident in June in which Reed attacked two men.

Reed has been previously twice convicted of assaulting police officers in 2007 and 2009.

Johnson was shot at approximately 4:30 a.m. while he and a small crowd of individuals were in front of a East North Street residence. Two black males approached and exchanged words with Johnson and “a gunshot was heard and the suspects fled the area on foot,” according to Fisher.

Johnson was shot once in the back and died at Wooster Community Hospital.

Anyone with information concerning Reed should contact the Wooster Police Detective Bureau at 330-287-5720 or U.S. Marshals at 866-4-Wanted.
