Twenty-five women came together to share a table with Robbie Ross at the Wayne County Women’s Power Lunch at the Wooster Inn Jan. 5. Ross was a founding member of Wayne County Women’s Network and its first president. She was also the first Wayne County recipient of the prestigious Athena Award.

Ross shared her experiences climbing the ladder through what was a male dominated banking profession when she began her career 37 years ago. Recently she retired as a senior vice president at First Merit Bank, where she spent the past 17 years. She is looking forward to enjoying tennis, line dancing, cooking and her granddaughters. Ross also spoke about the birth in the 1970s of Women’s Network. Women initially gathered to network, expand careers, present seminars, learn from each other, and create the basic structure that is now being recreated to fit today’s women.

In other business, a new logo was accepted, the March Power Lunch will be March 8 (one week later than normal due to the Women’s Network cruise), the April 5 meeting will be a tour of St. Paul’s Hotel, and the cookie exchange has been rescheduled for Feb. 21, at Lincoln Interiors, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. More information about Women’s Network is available at http://waynewomen.com.
