King Kandy. Princess Lolly. Gloppy the Chocolate Monster.
If those names sound familiar, chances are you are one of the millions of people who have played one of the most beloved board games of all times – Candyland.
The children's department of the Wooster branch of the Wayne County Public Library brought the childhood classic alive in a big way Jan. 28 when it offered young visitors the chance to play a life-size version of every preschooler's favorite game.
The children's story time room at the library was filled with giant cupcakes and lollypops as young readers took on the role of the game pieces and made their way down the familiar pathway of colorful squares. Everyone who participated in the game was rewarded with – you guessed it – a candy prize.
After playing the game young readers also had the opportunity to make their own colorful candy-themed house to take home.
For those who missed the chance to play Candyland Live, the library will be hosting another opportunity to play the game, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Feb. 11, during Main Street Wooster's Chocolate Daze celebration.
Candyland Live is one of dozens of special events designed with children and families in mind that the Wayne County Public Library hosts each year.
