Roman Beachy

Roman Beachy, 93, of Mt. Eaton, died unexpectedly Feb. 3, 2012, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Sarasota, Fla.

Roman was born Dec. 7, 1918, in Holmes County, to the late Jacob and Cora Beachy, and married Sarah Schlabach on Oct. 11, 1951. She survives. He retired from Massillon Steel Castings and was a member of Longenecker Mennonite Church.

In addition to his wife, Roman is survived by a daughter, Barbara “Jeanie” (Chuck) Gatti of Mt. Eaton; grandchildren, Don (Stephanie) Gatti of Mt. Eaton, Mike (Valerie) Gatti of Apple Creek, and Angela Sherer of Colorado Springs, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Landon, Sydnie, Sadie, Connor, Kenzie, Braylee, Mena, and Jacob; and siblings, Noah (Sylvia) Beachy of Berlin, Lee (Edna) Beachy of Sarasota, Fla., Verna Miller of Walnut Creek, Albert (Emma) Beachy of Berlin, Alvin (Maude) Beachy and Mary (Atlee) Miller, both of Walnut Creek, and Emma Yoder and Jacob (Erma) Beachy, both of Berlin.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Lizzie Ann Schrock; and brother, Moses Beachy.

Services will be held Feb. 7, at 11 a.m., at Longenecker Mennonite Church, Winesburg, with Pastor Dean Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call Feb. 6, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. or one hour prior to services.

Spidell Funeral Home, Mt. Eaton, is handling arrangements.
