National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), Wayne County Chapter 2218, met June 14 at Ryan’s Steak House in Wooster. The guest speaker for the meeting was Ben Hauk who is retired from USDA. Hauk worked for the Farm Service Agency in the personnel system.

A brief business meeting followed his presentation. The chapter was reminded that we will be selling sandwiches on the patio at Buehler’s in Orrville July 28 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Next month will be the chapter’s annual picnic. It will be held at Pat Schaffter’s home on Columbus Road, Wooster, on Thursday, July 12, at 11:30 a.m. Each member is to bring a covered dish, their own table service and beverage.

Members were also reminded to continue contacting their federal representatives, apprising them of their feelings about legislation affecting both active and retired federal employees.
